In the UK, funeral directors are not legally required to have any formal training or qualification.
It is worth checking whether the Company is a member of one of the following trade associations - both of which have excellent codes of practice, premises monitoring and complaint procedures. (a) National Association of Funeral Directors or (b) The National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors
It is also worth checking that the individual is a member of the British Institute of Funeral Directors - which confirms that the holder is professionally qualified.
We recommend that you obtain quotations from at least
two local funeral directors - you can use this website to find local firms and request their price lists.
